D. SEAN CLEMENTS (Buffalo, NY) began his intensive training in music at home by himself and was considered a rock guitar prodigy among his peers. He began studying traditional percussion in the mid 90s while attending SUNY Buffalo for American Studies, eventually met and apprenticed under Landing Diatta and Emile Latimer in Buffalo & has since traveled to Senegal, Brazil and Puerto Rico to study, perform and teach percussion. Sean is also a digital DJ and expert in electronic music production with Ableton Live. He studied and taught at Dubspot and has produced music for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, UNESCO, Marithe + Francois Girbaud, among others. He has performed at Lincoln Center’s David H Koch Hall, The Apollo, El Coliseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico & on The Today Show. An alumnus of Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts in classical guitar, he is currently working towards an MM in music technology. Known to have 5 jobs at a time, Sean alternately works as a composer, DJ, percussionist and educator in the Tri-State area. Currently, he is a teaching artist for Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, Urban Arts Partnership and Project Performing Arts while composing and DJing under the pseudonym “DJ CEIBA”.
